EARL NewsScottish Power Energy Networks removes its objection to EARL Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) has removed its objection to the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link (EARL) Bill, adding to the three objection withdrawals received last week. SPEN objected to the EARL Bill on the basis that the Bill would adversely affect the rights that SPEN has over land, when needing to carry out operations as a licensed electricity transmitter and distributor. SPEN felt that the Bill would impede their ability to carry out their statutory, regulatory, license and contractual obligations in connection with the electricity transmissions and distribution networks. As a result of frequent meetings and a close working relationship between SPEN and the promoters, tie Limited, an agreement has now been reached to take a co-ordinated approach to the programming and implementation of utility diversions that will affect SPEN's operations. Barry Cross, EARL Projector Director, comments: "I am delighted that SPEN has withdrawn its objection to EARL and that an agreement has been reached. tie and SPEN have been negotiating closely from the outset, with both parties demonstrating a willingness to work together and discuss all matters relating to this objection. This committed and open approach will continue as the project progresses." For further information, please contact: |
